Penguins Unit

Our theme is penguins and I wanted to share a few things we are doing...

Week 1: Non-Fiction Penguins
My class wrote a report on penguins, as if they were National Geographic Reporters. Ice Melting Experiment

Week 2,3: Mr. Popper's Penguins
We have a class penguin that Admiral Drake sent from Antarctica named Louie. Louie goes home with one student every night. They take him on "adventures" every night. So far, Louie has had a lot of fun! Including helping bake muffins in an Easy Bake Oven, helping practice spelling words, going to church, and more! I wish I could post some of the awesome pictures parents have sent me!

We also made our own penguins for our mini bulletin board, themed "Mrs. Brown's Penguins."

We played the role of "Papa Penguin" and practiced waddling with our own baby penguins (or boiled eggs)!

Currently- January

This month has flown by with the end of the Christmas holiday, school starting back, and graduate school!

Currently...

Listening/Watching- I am listening to KLOVE and completing the thirty day challenge. I am already feeling my spirits lifting and being happier. I am not as stressed out over the little things. I am watching Biggest Loser. I have been a fan over the years, and I am still motivated to stay in good health because of it. I also love Jillian-she rocks ,

Loving- Zumba! I have recently discovered it and cannot wait to go to class every week! It goes by so fast and is a fun workout!

Wanting- a day off to get things organized. I am so pumped because tomorrow is that day!

Needing- to get my booty ready for another 5K. Christmas break slowed me down!

Reading- it am in graduate school, so that takes up most of my readings. I am really enjoying my first class. I am also reading Jesus Calling and Living Life with Less. Both are great reads!

I hope this month is going well for you!

Melt in your mouth...Fruit Dip!

Over the break we headed to Colorado for some family time. It was filled with lots of love, laughter, and too much food. I found an awesome low fat, delicious fruit dip and thought I would share the recipe...

Fat Free Cool Whip
Fat Free Cream Cheese
Strawberry Kiwi Crystal Light (I buy generic brand)

Whip cream cheese and crystal light first, then add in the cool whip. Serve with grapes, strawberries, etc.! Enjoy!

Journey of Faith

As we all make resolutions and start the new year, I would like to share this article...

http://myjourneyoffaithmagazine.com/resolve-to-transform/

Monday, Monday!

We head back to school today, and I am beyond excited to see my kiddos! I was reading a book the other day and I realized that I will never work a day in my life as a teacher. As the famous quote was in my book, "Find a job that you love, and you will never work a day in your life."

While reading this morning, this also popped up and it really spoke to me...

(It is from a book I am reading, Living with Less by Joshua Becker)

"God's invitation to follow and learn from him is more than a "dream come true" that leads to worldly pleasures, status, accolades, and large paychecks. God's invitation is to find a life that fulfills that very destiny of our souls, hearts, and lives. It is in fact, the very invitation we have been created to accept."

With that being said I am so blessed and proud to be a teacher. I love my so called "job."

Have a great Monday!
Live. Laugh. Love

Happy ReNEW Year

I am starting off this year by relaxing and renewing. After the holiday season filled with eating and not a lot of working out I am feeling groggy! So, I decided to reNew myself! I found this detox bath on Pinterest and fell in love! I felt wonderful afterwards. I made mom and Jenny do it as well!
I received a sugar hand scrub from one of my kiddos, and I have searched Pinterest and found my own to keep around for those wintery dry hands! I just got back from a massage and am looking forward to getting back into a schedule. If you are from the Benton area I have an amazing massage therapist to recommend- her prices are very reasonable as well! Have a relaxing day!
