31 books in 31 weeks

As you prolly know I love to read. I wish I had more time in the day to relax, drink coffee, and sit down with a good book.

Right now my life is consumed with graduate school and being a first year teacher. I encourage my students to read every night and I always share books I am currently reading (that are appropriate for second graders). They have heard of my many nights I have stayed up late finishing a book or falling asleep and loosing my place!

I have an ongoing reading bucket list of books I have been interested in and want to read. So, I have decided to create myself a goal to read towards. I got the idea from a few other blogs that do similar goal setting such as 101 in 1001 or top ten for this month. I decided I will read at least 31 books in 31 weeks. Why 31? Well that is my lucky number! So right when school starts up next year is when I should be finished, and hopefully, on to a new goal.

I will be posting my weekly readings and my personal book reviews. I will be reading a range of books from young children/teens nonfiction and fiction to adult nonfiction and fiction. I am a second grade teacher and I do read books with my students so I am going to count those chapter books in! I am currently reading 3 books, and I tend to read a few at a time. So I am going to try to finish those three this week! Follow me on my journey for the next 31 weeks and challenge yourself!

***please leave book recommendations!

life is about the little things...

We go through live so quickly. We are always planning for the future and what is next. My reading today made me think to slow down, enjoy the present, and to look for the little things that God puts in our day to show that he is there.

I came home today, before the start of the rain, and noticed this beautiful bloom. Even though it was a cold, rainy, and dreadful day God was still there with me all day.

This is the day The Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalms 118:24

Flea Market Finds

One little addiction I have is visiting flea markets and resale stores. Over the years Benton, AR has gained some of these type stores that I am a regular in! I don't see the purpose of buying new things at full price when I can find unique things at these places. Here are a few things I have found over the last few weeks...

Small Desert Block and Cover. I just "had" to make some delicious triple chocolate cookies to display in it! I got it for 3.00.

Old frames. I wish I would have taken a picture before I painted them but I bought them for 1.00 and spent 2.00 on the print at Office Depot. (I have learned to print large pictures at an office supplies store and not to order or print at an actual photo place).

Old window. My goal is to have it in our eating area and display quotes that will change with the seasons, holidays. I will hopefully have it up and displaying soon! That will be its own DIY post. I got it for 10.00

Key Hook. I looked for something to put our car keys on forever. I found this for 1.00!

Paper clip vase. This was originally use for a flower pot I believe, but I decided it looked neat to use on my desk. I got it for 2.00.

Currently- February

Now that February is almost over hehe...

Listening/Watching- I love KLOVE and listen while I get ready every morning! I am an avid Biggest Loser fan and there are only a few more weeks left to go!

Loving- my hubby. Yesterday marked our 7 year mark together. We have been married two years this July and I couldn't ask for anything else. He really does treat me like a princess.

Wanting- to see Safe Haven. I loved the book and haven't made it to the theater yet!

Needing- a yoga session!

Reading- besides every night grad school readings, I am currently reading Laurie Halse Anderson's book Chains, Mary Poppins by Travers, and The Time Keeper by Mitch Album. I highly recommend them.
