31 in 31: Week 12

Seth read Happy, Happy, Happy by Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty. I read two books for graduate school that I am not going to bore you with. I bought this book one day this week, and surprisingly Seth had it read in two days! He is not a big reader, but this book defiantly kept his attention and gained his liking. I cannot wait to read it after all the other men in our family.  We enjoy the show and Si is my favorite. I love how they end every show with family and prayer.

Also, Happy Memorial Day! Spend time with family and friends.

31 in 31: Week 10 and 11

I have been so busy with the end of the school year, that I have been posting my reading goals every two weeks.  Sorry! I started back with graduate school, so most of my time is filled with reading articles and children's fantasy books.  I am loving my new class!

For week 10, I read Traveling Light by Max Lucado.  I am a huge fan of Max Lucado.  I went to the library to pick up another one of his books, but it was already taken.  So, I grabbed this one instead, and I am glad I did.  It is a focus on Psalms 23.  It talks about how in our lives today we are not suppose to have all the burdens we face; weariness, worry, guilt, discontent, and so on.  We are suppose to trust in God and will according to his will without all the unhealthy stuff. I read two-three chapters a day as my little devotional.  It was a quick, easy read that was a blessing in disguise.

For week 11, I read The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.  Now I am a very happy person, but like Lucado's book, this one is about loving life, having more fun, and not worrying about the little things. I actually found this book on Good Reads.  Good Reads is a website that allows you to find books similar to the ones you have already read and enjoyed.  One of my favorites is Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love. So, I typed that in and it gave me this book. I cannot wait to get my hands on her book, Happier at Home.

*I do not own any of the books I read. I get them all at our local library for free.  I do think I will be purchasing The Happiness Project, it is one I would like to read again!

Have a relaxing weekend!

31 in 31: Weeks 8 and 9

So these past two weeks have been fully filled with many things. Mostly trying to get summer plans in the works, finalize things at school for the year, and enjoy my time without grad school. I only read one book over these two weeks because I was also reading my many magazines, catching up on blogging reading, and skimming books for next year in second grade. I did however read an awesome children's book, The Clockwork Three. It is a children's historical fiction by Matthew J. Kirby. Kirby actually works for the school system and is around children all the time. I am thinking that is where he got a lot of his inspiration.

It is about three children, whom do know each other, and they are brought together by a extraordinary event. I loved this book, and am planning on purchasing it for my classroom. I think it would be a great chapter a day read aloud in my classroom next year.

First Anniversary at 615 West Saline

We have been in our house for 1 year! I can't believe how time has flown by! It was like just yesterday we were out house hunting trying to get out of the apartment. We have enjoyed our second home and have slowly made some changes to make it our own. I just love old houses. I think it's because I don't feel guilty making holes in the walls! Hehe! I'm sure the house will change over the seasons and when we have additions to our family, but for now we are so blessed with what we have. Our house is not a house, it's our home!
